Venice's Island of the Dead, Isola di San Michele.
The final resting place of several prominent figures from history, such as Igor Stravinsky, Ezra Pound, and Don Knotts. On a clear day, you can easily see the Alps reaching into the sky, just to the left of the island. Even well into summer, the mountain tops are capped with dazzling white peaks. Seen here from the north bank of Venice, the cemetery island is both tranquil and surreal.
